All Terrain Vehicles, or ATVs, are quite popular for some niches, or as an important part of a career. Farmers and ranchers need four-wheelers to traverse their land; emergency rescue workers need snowmobiles to help trapped skiers. But these people are not having video games created about their jobs. Regardless, there are several ATV racing games on the market right now, and ATV racing games are on the fast track to being one of the most popular types of video games to play.
The feeling of being behind one of these fast, adrenaline pumping vehicles is becoming more refined with newer ATV racing games. Sophisticated graphics in these newer games make the air thick with dust kicked up from other vehicles and the tire marks from the ATVs stay throughout the race. Winding dirt roads, piles for high jumps and mud slides create a hectic race for first place. Throughout the ATV racing games, the vehicles are damaged and the progression of demolition is seen while playing. ATV racing games are becoming more grounded in reality.
ATV Quad Power Racing is one franchise of the genre for the Xbox, GameCube and Playstation 2. At the time this video game came out, there was not much competition for ATV racing games. While expanding upon other genres, some of the ATV racing games' technology lagged behind. This changed with the advent of ATV Quad Power Racing. This game is one of the most popular ATV racing games available. There is now a second edition of the game, ATV Quad Power Racing 2. The biggest draw to the latest game is the amount of different ATVs available for use. There are 20 different playable riders, each with different tricks and with 15 different tracks on which to race.
The latest generation of video game consoles allow for even greater technology for ATV racing games. DiRT is a game made for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It features the ability to destroy the environment, as well as the cars. MotorStorm is another PlayStation 3 game where the ATVs can be raced and destroyed.
These games are available at any local technology store, such as Best Buy or Circuit City. These games are also available on many websites. The new ATV Racing Games cost about $50. However if this is out of the realms of one's budget, older versions of games can be purchased for a much cheaper price.
ATV racing games are popular among people who actively use ATVs, as well as those just looking for a thrill. The amount of ATV racing games developed are fewer than games of different subject matter, which means the advancements of these types of racing games tend to be less as well. However, who wants to race along dirt paths and watch their ATV incur the elements need not leave the couch. The next best thing is waiting in his or her game console.
